What a good idea! I've long been interested in undertaking some useful research but have never had the confidence to do it on my own and never managed to arouse enough interest in those around me to obtain collaboration (though I have had ideas stolen quite often...) :-)My particular interests are in evaluation and benchmarking; in the nature and role of competence and what competencies are needed for various aspects/types of library practice; the nature of change within libraries and how library staff react to it; where the library fits in the 21st Century; and why libraries are one of the most patronised civic facilities and yet have such low status .... well those are some of my interests anyway. I'd better shut up, now, I think!

On contrary, keep going:) These are all relevant issues and we'd like to discuss them in this group. I believe there is a strong connection between a changing information world, a need to constantly evaluate both our competencies and outcomes, and need to think about research more seriously.
